Dawson 3D Print Vase 34cm

Dawson is the middle width — 20cm across, 34cm high — the proportion that suits most surfaces without needing to be thought about.

The vase is white ceramic with the horizontal ridging left by the 3D printing process. At 20cm the ridge pitch is wide enough to read as separate bands from across a room, where the narrower Lincon reads as one continuous flute. Side lighting is what brings it out: a lamp at 45 degrees turns the bands into alternating light and shadow lines all the way up the body.

Twenty centimetres of width is enough to look intentional standing alone and small enough not to dominate a coffee table. That is a genuinely useful middle: it is the one of the three you can move around the house and find a home for.

Placing a 20cm-wide vase

On a 110–130cm coffee table, Dawson sits comfortably on a tray with a book and a small bowl and still leaves usable surface. On a 150–180cm sideboard it works paired with artwork above rather than as the only object. On a dining table it suits 160cm and up as a centrepiece; below that, or when you are seating people, move it aside — 34cm sits right at eye level across a table.

Austin, Lincon and Dawson stand at the same 34cm and differ only in width: 25, 17 and 20cm. Dawson is the connector between the other two. Austin alone reads as a single heavy object; Lincon alone can look lost on a wide surface; put Dawson between them and the widths step down evenly, so the group reads as one composition instead of three unrelated pots. All three at one height gives you a level line across the top with three different masses beneath — a rhythm a single vase cannot make. Space them 12–15cm apart and avoid ordering them widest to narrowest in a straight run; 20, 25, 17 is a better sequence than 25, 20, 17.

What ceramic and a printed ridge ask of you

Dust settles into the grooves and stays there, so keep a dry soft brush nearby — ten seconds of brushing beats several minutes with a cloth. Wipe with a barely damp cloth if a mark needs more, and dry it straight away.

As general guidance for any ceramic vessel, test with a small amount of water on a protected surface before filling it for fresh stems, and use felt pads or a coaster under it on timber and stone.
