A coffee-table object that happens to have rules.
White marble, 17cm square and 5cm high, with gold accents. Left alone it reads as a small piece of stone on a stack of books. Picked up, it is noughts and crosses — a game everyone already knows, so there is nothing to explain, nothing to set up and no box to go looking for.
Most decorative objects ask only to be looked at. This one is the thing people reach for when they sit down.
A coffee table arrangement works on three heights: something tall (a lamp, stems, a 30cm vase), something mid (a stack of two or three books, roughly 6–8cm), and something low. This is the low element — and at 5cm it needs help to be seen. Sit it on the book stack rather than flat on the table and it lands at the right level.
On a 30cm tray it covers a little over half the width, which leaves room for a candle beside it: a complete vignette in two objects.
Away from the lounge it holds a hall console, a shelf between book stacks, a desk, or a guest room where you want the surfaces to look occupied rather than staged.
The marble is natural, so the veining and tone differ from set to set — yours will not be an exact match for the photograph.
It is also porous. Keep drinks off the board, blot anything that spills, and keep vinegar, lemon and abrasive cleaners well away: acid etches the polish permanently and abrasives dull the gold. The playing pieces are small — count them back onto the board after a game and keep the set out of reach of small children and pets.

Care
Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Blot spills as they happen. No vinegar, no lemon, no bleach, no abrasive cleaners — acid etches marble and abrasives dull the gold.
Both, and that is the point. It is a working noughts and crosses set — the game everyone already knows, so there is nothing to explain and nothing to set up — that is finished well enough to leave out on a coffee table between rounds.
17 × 17cm and 5cm high. Roughly the footprint of a side plate, and low enough that it sits under the eye line of anything else on the table rather than competing with it.
White marble with gold accents. The marble is natural stone, so the veining and tone differ from set to set.
On a coffee table it belongs in the low tier of the arrangement — sit it on a stack of two or three books rather than flat on the table so it reads at the right height. It also works on a 30cm tray with a candle beside it, on a hall console, a shelf, or a desk.
It is one of the few decorative objects that does not need the recipient to share your taste to be used. Housewarmings, Father's Day, or a wedding gift for people who already own everything.
Marble is porous, so treat it like stone rather than plastic. Keep drinks off it, blot anything that spills, and never use vinegar, lemon or abrasive cleaners — acid etches the polish permanently and abrasives dull the gold.
They are small. Count them back onto the board when you finish a game, and keep the set out of reach of small children and pets.

◆ Care Instructions — All Decor & Accessories
|
Dust all decorative items regularly with a soft dry cloth or fine duster. For glass and ceramic pieces: wipe with a lightly dampened microfibre cloth. Dry immediately. For lamps: switch off and allow to cool before cleaning. Wipe base with a dry cloth. Vacuum fabric shades with a brush attachment. For candle holders: remove wax residue with warm water before it sets fully. Avoid submerging in water. For artificial plants: dust foliage with a dry cloth or use a hairdryer on a cool, low setting. Wipe planters with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, bleach, and excessive moisture on all décor items. Display away from direct sunlight to preserve colour and finish over time. |
