A band of clustered silver drifts horizontally across the upper third of the canvas — raised, granular, catching the light unevenly — and then it breaks and runs. Long vertical streaks fall from it to the bottom edge, thinning as they go, the way rain does down a pane of glass.
Everything else is restraint: pale grey, white, the faintest warm shadow. There is no colour in it at all, and that is precisely why it works in rooms where colour would be a problem.
Flat artwork looks the same at every hour of the day. This does not. The raised silver reads almost flat under overhead light and comes alive under light that crosses it at an angle — a window to one side, a wall lamp, a picture light above the frame.
Hang it where light arrives from the side and you effectively get two artworks a day. Hang it on the wall directly opposite a bright window and the texture flattens out and you lose the best thing about it.
At 83 × 123 centimetres it suits the narrow wall — beside a doorway, between two windows, above a slim console. Above furniture, leave 20–25cm between the base of the frame and the surface below. On an open wall, centre it 145–150cm from the floor to its midpoint.
Metallic Rain is what you reach for when a room already has enough going on — a patterned rug, a strong sofa, a shelf that is doing a lot. It adds texture and movement of light without adding another colour anyone has to negotiate.

Yes, noticeably, if it is side-lit. Under flat overhead light the silver reads as pale grey; under raking light the granular band lifts and the vertical streaks catch. It is the one piece in this range where placement changes what you actually own.
It has no colour to clash with — only silver, grey and white. That makes it the safest of these four for a room that already has a patterned rug, a strong sofa or a busy shelf, and it means a repaint will not date it.
Both horizontal and vertical hooks are fitted, so physically yes. Bear in mind the streaks read as falling rain when the piece hangs portrait; turned landscape they run sideways and the effect changes character completely. Most people hang this one portrait.
