Botanical, but not pretty.

Large white blooms open across a warm oatmeal ground — petals loose and slightly ruffled, one or two still closed on slender stems. Behind them, vertical strokes of gold leaf run the full height of the canvas and catch the light as you move past, so the piece reads flat and quiet from the doorway and metallic from a metre away.

The palette is deliberately narrow: white, cream, warm grey, gold. Nothing in it competes with a room, which is exactly what makes it useful in one.

Portrait format changes where it belongs
